How to apply
About the application process:
Submit your application as close to the application opening date as possible to avoid disappointment.
Opening date for applications for summer 2019: early November
Closing date for applications: 10:00 am Friday 15 February
(We reserve the right to close the application process early, if all available places are filled prior to the application closing date.
We reserve the right to close the application process later, if places are still available prior to the application closing date.)
Notification that your application has been received and logged:
After submitting your application you will receive an automated email confirming that we have received and logged your application. If you do not receive this email, please first check your junk mail folder.
If you cannot locate the automated response email, you must email: study.china@manchester.ac.uk
If you do not receive an automated email, this is because you have incorrectly entered your university email address on your application form. You must notify the Study China office immediately, so that this issue can be rectified to ensure that you receive all further related correspondence.
When you will be notified about the status of your application:
You will be notified of the status of your submitted application on Monday 18 February between midday and 19.00
Please note: applications will be processed on a rolling basis and in the order of which they were submitted.
To increase your chances of being offered a place on the programme, submit your application as soon as the online application process opens. We recruit on a rolling basis. If you submit your application later on in the recruitment process, fewer places will be available – this will reduce your chances of being offered a place on the programme.
Application status:
You will receive an email on Monday 18 February confirming the outcome of your application status, which will be one of the following:
- Conditional offer of a place on the programme
- Offer of a reserve place on the programme
- Application declined
Offer of a place on the programme:
If offered a place on the programme this will be conditional, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
You will be notified of a conditional offer of a place on the programme and be given a deadline of one week by which to provide documentation required for confirming your eligibility.
If you meet the eligibility criteria you will be given a deadline of two weeks to book flights and make associated travel arrangements.
Please make sure you have sufficient funds in place, we are unable to offer extensions to deadlines regardless of the reason.
There is no flexibility to arrive later than the official arrival date, or depart earlier than the official departure date.
All communication will be sent to your student email address, which you have provided on your application form.
Reserve list:
If offered a place on the reserve list this will be conditional, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
You will be notified of a RESERVE offer of a place on the programme and be given a deadline of one week by which to provide documentation required for confirming your eligibility.
We maintain a reserve list for every programme. In the event that a student drops out, we will offer the available place to a student on the reserve list. Reserve applicants will have met all essential Key Skills and Key Qualities on their application; however, their application will have received a slightly lower score than an applicant who has been offered a place.
If a place becomes available for you on the programme you will be given a deadline of two weeks to book flights and make associated travel arrangements.
Please make sure you have sufficient funds in place, we are unable to offer extensions to deadlines regardless of the reason
All communication will be sent to your student email address, which you have provided on your application form.
Application declined
If your application is declined you will be invited to apply again for a future programme (assuming that you still meet the eligibility criteria).
